Written by Lucille on November 24, 2002: Glenn was the only son of Edward and Dora Heitz. He was born on the family farm near Madison, Ind. and lived on the farm until he went to Purdue University. His schooling was interrupted by WWII and after serving in the Air Force for three years he went back to Purdue and got his BS and then his MS in Ag Economics.
Glenn met his wife, Lucille, while stationed in Bakersfield, California and they married on December 29, l946. They became the parents of three boys, Ed, Mike and Joe.
All of Glenn's working life was spent with the Farm Credit Administration, starting with the Production Credit Association in Lafayette, Indiana. In l958 he moved to Washington, D.C., to take a position as Deputy Governor of the Farm Credit Administration and Director of the Bank of Cooperatives. In l970 he became President of the Federal Land Bank of St. Louis and later the CEO of the St. Louis Farm Credit Banks. He retired from that position in l986 to his wooded acreage outside St. Louis, where he enjoyed gardening, working in the woods, and traveling. He died of a massive heart attack at age 71.
